Some links on this site are booking links. If a reader books through one, the guide may earn a commission. That never affects which entries are listed, how they are ranked, or what they cost.

The Links That Earn a Commission

Every bookable experience on this site leads to a live listing on GetYourGuide or on Viator, and a booking made through one of those links pays this site a commission. Beyond experiences, the same applies to our partner links for hotels, hostels and apartments, rail passes and rail tickets, intercity buses and the ferry across to Busan, airport transfers and car hire, luggage storage, eSIM data, flight search, flight-delay claims and travel insurance, all of which are minted through Travelpayouts. The price you pay never changes because of it. Booking through a link here costs you nothing extra, and booking direct costs exactly the same.

What Never Earns a Cent

A great deal of this site is not monetised at all, because a great deal of Fukuoka is free. The shrines and temples in the old Hakata quarter, the castle ruins, the park loops, the beach under the tower, the markets and both of the city's big festivals carry no link, because there is nothing to sell. The food stalls take walk-ins and always have, so no page here sells entry to one. Two city passes that would earn well are written about with no link and no price, because their prices could not be confirmed to the standard every other figure on this site meets. And where an entry links straight to a venue's own site, there is no commission in it either.

What Money Never Decides

No operator pays to appear on this site, and none can buy a higher place in a list. What gets included, and in what order, is an editorial call made before any commercial question is raised. Ratings and review counts shown beside each entry are the booking platforms' own published figures, reproduced exactly and read twice. Where a figure could not be confirmed, no number is invented to fill the gap, and the entry is held back instead. Starting prices are real and are labelled as starting prices, because the final figure moves with date and party size and lives on the booking page.
